The past week has been hectic for me on the internets. After I posted a copy of my “plea” I got over half a million readers on it! This is amazing considering it was in Swedish. Rickard Falkvinge later translated it to English (I didn’t feel I wanted to spend energy on that, it was kind of super long!) and the news spread around the world about the information that I believed most people already knew about. The feedback has been heart warming to say the least! Thousands of comments with anger, sympathy, support, you name it. It’s weird to be in the middle of all of this. I didn’t feel that I missed support or anything but it really makes a big difference.
Besides my “plea” I’m also waiting for an answer regarding my request for a re-trial. My lawyers and I recently sent in the papers and the state attorney has replied to it. I posted a small quote from it (in Swedish), it’s really a weird read. Basically they admit to “some faults” like not having the actual evidence to back up things I’ve been convicted of, but they don’t think that really matters since I would have commited “the crimes” anyhow. Interesting fact though, in the original case there was a second charge of “preparation” for all of this, that we won… I will update you guys later on this.
Currently we’re writing our reply to their reply (…) and we’ll send it within a few days. I will know sometime during week 30 if I get a re-trial or not!
Another thing: A lot of people have asked on how to give me support. Offers about money and a lot of other things. They’re all lovely! But when it comes to monetary support, please don’t give me any! I don’t need much money anyhow and if I get money it will go to our opponents since I on paper owe them 10M EUR or so. I don’t want to feed that beast with any cash, especially not from people that really want to change what’s going on. If you have money to give, there are lots of great organisations like La Quadrature du Net, EFF, FFII or why not my favorite pirates; the Sea Shepherds, that you could give it to. It will help more in the long run, I will always land on my feet. And if you feel like giving money to creators without going through these corrupt organisations like the record companies, you could use things like Kickstarter or my own creation Flattr. We started Flattr for exactly this reason, getting away from the current corrupt monopolistic way of sharing money! In order to win our war in the end we need to make our opponents obsolete faster than they can make our rights obsolete.
Someone also started a signature collecting thing on Avaaz. It felt really weird seeing my face and name up on Avaaz, I’ve only used that before for people in real need! I did in the end realise though, that it would probably be really helpful if, let’s say 10.000 people or so, actually signed it and handed it over before the decision is made! I think the deadline is 6th of august (not really sure) and there are already over a thousand signatures!
I’m very thankful and I don’t really know what to say about all of this. I didn’t think it would cause such a stir but I’m happy that people care this much. In the end I know it’s not only about me but about all of us. I’ll do the best I can with my situation and with your support!

I just signed the petition everyone who cares about a free society should. I am sick of Google and whoever being able to see what I want private on my PC. The arguments on torrents has been lost but they are still trying in all the devious ways they have to stop millions using them. I am glad I read this blog and admire Peter hugely and the guys who went to jail.
But more and more people need to know how much governments, multinationals etc etc know or can find out about you.
