July 17th, 2008 — Personal, Piracy, Travels
We’re finally in Bolzano!
After travelling from Sweden, through Berlin, Ingolstadt, some parts of Austria and into Italy, we’ve now arrived to Bolzano for the Manifesta art biennal.
There’s alot of stuff happening. It’s too much to write about right now, but I still wanted to update a bit. Pictures are available, they’re awesome! This trip is very special. It will never be copied, it’s impossible!
I’ll update more later. Tomorrow is opening day!
July 12th, 2008 — Personal, Travels
Last night we arrived in Berlin. I went to sleep after we parked the bus, and woke up early.
Todays plan is to have a big party. You’re very welcome to join the party if you’re nearby - more info on the s23m site.

System 23 Modified (S23M) arrived in Malmö today. We took some photos of the extraordinary system! Tomorrow I will embark together with my fellow art loving pirates to travel with the system to Bolzano. Hope to see you on the road!

Today, S23M embarked on it’s virgin voyage from Stockholm to Bolzano, Italy. Piratbyrån and The Pirate Bay have been invited to Manifesta 7, the big artbiennal.
Tomorrow the bus leaves from Malmö. I’m joining the trip and I’m looking forward to do some art together with my friends. For me, this will be a very analog tribute to the past years or working with the art of kopimism! I’m super happy about it and I hope I will meet a lot of our fellow pirates on the road to Bolzano.
For more information, please visit the S23M project site!
July 10th, 2008 — Personal, Piracy, Playble, Travels, Work
Granted, The Pirate Bay has been initiating a lot of projects that we want to do. The Video Bay, Playble and Secure P2P are all ambitious projects that we’ve embarked upon and still not finished.
To those who complaint - well, fine. Most of the projects are projects that we’ve started, someone from our nearby area has then leaked it and then it’s all over the news. We get pushed to do stuff then instead of doing it for pure fun which is when we work the best together.
We’re only three people doing these projects. Most of the time, we’re actually only two. And we have day jobs as well. And everytime something happens on the Internet, the media requires us to take action or talk about it. I myself would spend around 4-5 hours - daily - to talk to the media about various issues. That’s not a joke, it’s 4-5 hours _daily_ that I spend just talking. It’s hard to keep up your dayjob and also a relationship at that pace.
Playble is still coming along. It hit some barriers with both cooperation within the team and with problems with Stim which I’ve written about before. It’s still on the todo-list. Same thing with The Video Bay - but we decided to put it on hold until there is a good enough p2p-streaming system. We where planning to release it without p2p but decided not to do that since we want it good or not at all. Secure P2P is the project of Tiamo but then we started to talk to BT Inc if they would implement some of the ideas instead and also we’re trying to convince them to put out a license that would prohibit them from making BitTorrent a closed system. That way they would have to stay true to the community, which we found a better idea then re-inventing the wheel all over again.
We’re sorry for being slow - but it’s also that we have lots of ideas and ambitions but we’re too few people. Instead we would love for some actually skilled PHP-coders and webdesigners to join our team. The problem we have is that every time we go look for them, they turn out either to not be flexible our the good ones disappear among the crappy ones. So if you know someone - who is REALLY skilled, and flexible when it comes to payments and who understands IRC - tell him (or preferably her) to talk to us.
Also, I’m working on another system, which is my baby. It’s going to be released soon, actually, as it’s closing to finish. And that’s what’s been stealing most of my working time right now, besides all the ACTA, FRA demonstrations, interviews and legal matters.
To close off - yes, we’re not wearing suits to work, we’re just too in love with the internet and have too little time.
October 26th, 2007 — Conferences, Personal, Piracy, Travels
My first post from the Oil of the 21st century conference! I’m in Berlin together with friends from PiratbyrÃ¥n and other kopimists from around Europe.
Today has been a very amusing first day, although most people didn’t arrive until late in the evening. Some of us took a tour around Berlin after a very nice breakfast. Played asteroids at the Hamburger Bahnhof Museum für gegenwart and got a highscore!
It’s really chilled out right now and I’m getting a lot of new ideas and feel some creativity come along. Bought a new domain name today which will be used for something that will get alot of attention, maybe some of you can guess what.
Tomorrows conference will be filled with interesting things. Read the program to get an idea about it.
September 28th, 2007 — Personal, Piracy, Travels

I haven’t blogged for a while. It’s been very busy days and it’s been a lot to do on a personal level as well.
I’ll skip the personal stuff since nobody who reads my personal blog is actually interested in that anyhow. I’ll also skip all the talk about Media Defender since it’s already been discussed intensely at so many other different places. I might do a follow-up entry on that later.
This is probably one of my shortest blog posts, but I promise to update my blog more often.
First up, HÃ¥kan Roswall (the prosecutor in the ongoing case against The Pirate Bay) just released some more servers from the raid last year. PiratbyrÃ¥ns server is going to be picked up first thing on Monday I hope. I don’t know what more they decided to give away, but hopefully most of them! Seems like he also filed for an extension regarding the investigation against TPB. We have of course sent a letter to the courts giving our point of view when it comes to this, which is that he should not get a THIRD extension. It’s a disaster for the Swedish legal system if he does! We also filed a request for getting another prosecutor for the case since he’s got personal problems with us, but I guess he will get his extension and he will not be replaced, since we’re the small people being run over by a big mighty fat guy with the erectile dysfunction (that’s just a figure of speech).
Second, I’m going to London next week. I hope to catch up with some friends and I’m probably going to drink some beers with the cool guys from Digg. Rumour has it that I might actually show up on Digg Nation as well…
June 8th, 2007 — Debates, Piracy, Playble, Travels
A swedish couple got kicked out of Germany for just having a PiratbyrÃ¥n t-shirt! Since it was the girl who had the t-shirt, I think we’re just going to give the guy his own so he can get kicked out if he goes alone as well.
HÃ¥kan Roswall has got an extension on the Pirate Bay case. For seriously weird reasons! PiratbyrÃ¥n is going to release a press release later today and invite for a press conference early next week. Maybe there’s a connection here somewhere, I think Roswall is starting to behave like the germans did 60 years ago..
Together with Magnus I went to Sound Days in Copenhagen today.
Magnus held a small seminar about the contexts of todays digital music, I participated in a debate with Martin Buck from MyMusic.dk and a guy called Ulrik (didn’t get his last name) from Tabu Records. The debate was about the future distribution of music and I was there partly as a representative of Playble and of The Pirate Bay.
The amount of people there … was very low. And basically no new innovative ideas on the agenda.
But anyhow; it was a very nice day, I got some sun at least. The best part about the debate was that it was outside.

Monday: Denmark
Wednesday: Denmark
Thursday: Denmark
Friday: Denmark
It’s an obvious trend right now. Denmark is evolving into a place where you can actually go to! Previously, Denmark for me has been Kastrup and my aunts place outside Copenhagen.
This week it has been for business with Morten, the Spot-festival and Reboot 9.0.
The Spotfestival was a bit weird. Some people in the record industry refused to go there since we where there to speak! They apparantly called up the arranger and told them it was a stupid idea to let us speak. How’s that for freedom of speach?
Anyhow, I and Magnus went with Claus to speak in Ã…rhus. It was a quite impressive line-up, ranging from Eric De Fontenay to “we’re not evil”-John Buckman (the latter also featured in Good Copy, Bad Copy which you should actually download and watch!).
There was a lot of stupid people at this conference. Honestly, stupid. They just don’t get it. Steve Gordon had an idea of ISPs filtering the internet from filesharing, taking Google filtering anything about the Tiananmen Square massacre for it’s chinese visitors being a good example that it could be done! Yet again, freedom of speach does not seem to be something that the people of the record industry actually like.
After the weird conference (where I actually met some interesting people from the danish group Innovation Lab) we went to Reboot instead. It was a perfect change since Reboot feels more like home than most conferences nowadays. It’s friendly, innovative and very relaxed.
The second day of Reboot Rasmus and Magnus performed at reboot. Amusing with some masks and interesting ideas as usual (see the full video).
The weekend was spent on actually relaxing. The week has been long and focused. I went to Pontus place two days in a row, I saw Chromeo live at Inkonst in Malmö, what a performance! They’re just a big proof that electronic music can be performed live, it’s not that often I hear something that sounds better live than perfected in a studio!
Today I got interviewed by Swedish magazine Fokus. It looks like it’s going to be one of the better stories about the copyfight, the reporter was a convertee that just recently realized that we are not just a bunch of kids.
The upcoming week will be followed with a lot of work, and more denmark! Soon releasing S, it’s going to be cool!
May 30th, 2007 — Piracy, Playble, Travels, Work
With my good friends in Lamont I took the weekend “off” and went to Siesta! festivalen in Hässleholm.
A lot of good bands, a lot of beer, and even more tacos. In fact, we had to make our own remix of a song just to celebrate the tacos! Mr. Hank did his own version of the taco celebration..
Insteadofgoingintoallthebandsthatplayed (since I was basically backstage the whole time, doh) I’ll just let the pictures speak for themselves.

Yesterday I went to Copenhagen and talked with Morten. He’s a really nice guy, I always get really excited when talking to him, it’s like he has the same ideas as me, same values and insight. It’s not many people I feel that way with so I’m happy to work with him in the future! We came up with some cool ventures and I’m confident it will work out!

I had SVT over again. Together with Magnus from PiratbyrÃ¥n they did some small shots and first interviews, rough cuts, for the upcoming documentary. It will be interesting. The new guy from SVT I haven’t met before looked exactly like Bosse Parnevik, just a fun trivia! (He’s not the guy on the pic..)

Today I’m leaving for Aarhus! I’m going to a festival called SPOT and I have no clue on what they want us to do. But it’s probably fun. I’ll hang out with some of the people from Piratgruppen DK so it’s bound to be good!
A lot of Denmark right now - Reboot is on this week!
Oh, and I have a new toy! It’s called NINTENDO WII.. And it’s fucking amazing! I woke up today with pain in my arms since I played so much last night…. that probably speaks for itself.
