Rather do it than do it good

The whole idea of police threatening to censor us seems to be moral panic from high up within the ranks of Swedish politics.

The information that got out was that it was someone high up that made the decision (which later the police said was not yet decided, if we complied with removing stuff they won’t tell us what it is). So what’s the concept here? One of my favorite tunes is called “Rather do it (than do it good)” (yes, it’s free to download, check it out on the bay) and this is what I’m thinking it’s all about. Do something – just don’t sit there while the immor(t)al Pirate Bay guys get away with taunting us!

So who is in charge? Who is the responsible person for this?
Let’s consider who has grudges or things to win on this.

  • Stefan Kronquist (IT-crime section at the State criminal police dept.) is probably mad at us for me fighting with them over the Kopimi.com filter entry they admitted blocking wrongfully. He’s the one that is in charge officially for this case as well, he’s the one that said it was not yet decided (although the first thing they said was that it was, remember that).
  • The Usual Suspects aka the Antipiracy groups, just reading Oscar Swartz blog entry about what they say about child porn makes you sick. They officially said at a Stockholm meeting that child porn can be used for anti piracy issues, basically that it could be used to filter the net for other things than child porn.
  • Thomas Bodström! Yes, you read correctly. This is the guy who was suspected for last years raid, the previous justice minister of Sweden. The one who got really bad PR when we got back up and the whole US-connection was revealed! He really hates us and wants to shut us down (and hey, what ever happened to the investigation about his crimes? Someone should look into that again). When the election last year was held we even put up a logo with his face on The Pirate Bay in order to celebrate that he was in the losing side of the election and was no longer a minister.
So what happened to him? He went on to become the chairman of the board for the group ECPAT, a non-governmental organisation that works together with the police in order to control child porn online, one of the big friends over at the child porn department and also one of the big contributors to the child porn filter. Is this just a coincidence? He has personal grudges, political grudges and power to control this.

But, the time right now is to go out and get drunk and hook up with some random blonde cute&hot swedish women!

Next week will be very interesting.

UPDATE: Oscar Swartz wrote a blog entry similar to mine, but in Swedish.
